Qualities Being Evaluated Poor Excellent

1. Relationship to objectives and general situation

Does the display enrich the daily activities of the class?

Is the material relevant, accurate, and up to date?

Is the theme apparent at a glance?

Does it match unit objectives?

2. Involvement of learner

Does it motivate action or stimulate curiosity?

Does it tell the viewer something not already known?

Does the display attract and hold attention?

Is it brain-compatible?

Are the manipulative parts easy to move?

Is it self-checking (if appropriate)?

3. Presentation of information

Is the display free from detail such as long lists and unrelated topics?

Does it have a central theme?

Are the captions direct and meaningful?

Are action words used (if appropriate)?

4. Layout

Is the organization clear and simple?

Is the display in good taste both in design and materials?

Can it be seen easily from a distance?

Does it serve an aesthetic purpose?

Does it have dynamic layout?

Is it arranged for best effect?

Is the lettering zigzagged?

Are invisible margins considered?

5. Lettering

Are letters the right size for the board?

Is the lettering appropriate for the age level?

Are the letters neatly cut? written?

Are the letters securely fastened?

Are the letters formed correctly?

6. General construction and design

Are pins used instead of thumbtacks or staples?

Have enough pins been used?

Have materials been double mounted (or transition lines used)?

Has the right amount of material been used?
