The project can be done in one or several classrooms or can be done by the entire school.

Possible ideas are listed for various grade levels.

Kindergarten/Primary

Making items

Simple concepts of producer, consumer, goods, services, and the use of money

Same as above but add advertising, market research, assembly lines, capital, interest, profits, and more vocabulary and concepts. Visit a bank and have small business resource people come and speak with the class.

Sell shares in a company, pay dividends on common and preferred stock. Use concepts and activities suggested for earlier grades.

Each grade can assume appropriate responsibilities. Have one sale day when each room markets products made in that classroom. All can buy and sell to and from each other. Examine catalogs and store sales ads. Get ideas for items that sell and prices stores ask.

Have grandparents and adopted grandparents come in for a gift giving session. Have older persons tell what the holiday was like when they were young. Have older people help youngsters with crafts. Make tray favors for a nursing home or meals on wheels.
