Learning About Ways of Producing Items

Cottage Industries

Assembly Lines

1. Let each student follow a set of directions and make one product by herself/himself. Each student may time the task and record the amount of time it took.

2. Compare times. Discuss why differences occurred and what problems were met.

3. Learn about assembly lines in factories.

4. Brainstorm the steps and tasks involved in making the product. List the steps.

5. Give a name to each job needed in the factory.

6. Write job descriptions for each task.

7. Decide how the production could be efficiently done on an assembly line.

8. Try the task and see if such production is more efficient.
