Drama and Social Studies

After students have learned about processes used by people they can summarize their learnings in plays. Notes from readings can be examined. Care needs to be taken to include accurate information and create settings which simulate the real situations as much as possible. Plays written by others can also be used to create understanding.

Plays could be used to learn about experiences in the homes of early settlers. Children could dress in costumes and use appropriate artifacts. Puppets and created props and scenes could also be used.

A second play could be used to compare pioneer times with current life styles.
