Physical Activities for Transition Times

1. Play Simon Says.

2. Do movements in time to music.

3. Do various bending, jumping, running, pushing, pulling, rolling, bouncing, throwing, or catching movements.

4. Dramatize movements of individual animate or inanimate objects or ideas.

Animate - Birds, lizards, turtles, fish, snakes, horses, rabbits cows, cats, dogs, butterflies, moths, grasshoppers, crickets, centipedes, spiders, or angle worms

Inanimate - Egg beaters, merry-go-rounds, pendulums, wheels, cranes, magnets, or bells

Ideas - Peace, fear, joy, or sorrow

5. Work in small groups to dramatize various movements of objects such as cars, airplanes, trains, buses, clocks, lawn mowers, combines, bailers, side rakes, elevators, or traffic lights.

6. Move to a special indoor or outdoor area and use available equipment.

7. Practice a movement or needed skill.

8. Play games that involve physical activities.
