Incorporating Time Concepts and Skills into a Study of Regions

Children in the fourth grade often study regions of the world. They are ready to grow in their understanding of skills by using and creating time lines. Time concepts which they already have, can be developed through additional experiences.

5. Examine a number of fourth grade social studies textbooks. What topics are most commonly taught at this level?

6. How is the typical existing curriculum being combined with local needs and individual interests?

7. How will you blend existing materials and predetermined curricular content with needs and interests of children?
