Joseph Brucker was a German immigrant who greatly influenced the settlement of Taylor County.

Brucker and Ludloff started a real estate business in Medford. Notice the sign on the building at the right which says, "Der Ansiedler, Waldbote Land Office - Brucker Ludloff Off. & Co." The Ansiedler, a German monthly newspaper printed in Milwaukee and sent to Europe, was used to encourage large numbers people to come to America.

Joseph Brucker started Der Waldbote, a German weekly newspaper. At first it was printed in Milwaukee but later in Medford. This newspaper kept German immigrants in touch with developments in their homeland and with each other in their new community. Much early Medford history is recorded in that newspaper.
