11. CONTENT/SUBJECT MATTER SPECIALIZATION: The practitioner understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structure of the discipline(s); the practitioner teaches and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students.
A. To help prospective teachers understand the importance of science fundamentals and the contribution this makes to the overall goals of elementary science education.
B. To apply knowledge of science and the environment by planning and conducting an outdoor experience for elementary school age children.
