Yellow Adder's Tongue
Erythonium americanum
LILIACEAE (Lily Family)
This spring flower blooms in rich woods and meadows. Its name, Trout Lily, refers to the brown and green mottled leaves which resemble the markings on a brown or brook trout. It is also known as a Dogtooth Violet because the small, white bulb from which it grows has a toothlike shape.
